Periodically I take a look at stories from my other books. This week we are checking out a story from my book “Ohio Oddities.”
The Lake Erie Nature and Science Center in Bay Village is a great place to spend a summer afternoon. Best of all it is free.
It offers nature and science programs as well as a world-class planetarium. There are dozens of animals ranging from deer to reptiles that youngsters can see and sometimes touch.
The center is located at the entrance to Huntington Park, a part of the Cleveland Metroparks and is just a short walk from the shores of Lake Erie.
One of my favorite attractions is the oversized garden equipment located in the garden of the center. Here are water buckets so huge that a small child can crawl inside, lawn rakes so big that the handle reaches above a nearby roof and ther is a watering can that a man could hide inside.
It is one of my favorite places and I wrote about the garden tools in my book, “Ohio Oddities” You can find other stories about unusual Ohio attractions in the book that is available at most major bookstores or from www.Amazon.com
