Some Free Things To Do In Columbus, Ohio

We get to tour the Ohio Statehouse on this week’s One Tank Trip and our very special guide for a part of the trip is Ohio Governor John Kasich who was nice enough to show us around his historic ceremonial office. I also show our viewers one of my favorite State House attractions a painting that was held hostage for a while by the painter. It’s a great story and best of all tours of our state capitol are free.

Other free things: if you like outdoor plays, the Actors Theatre of Columbus puts on 3 different plays over the summer (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend) at the amphitheater at Schiller Park in the heart of Columbus’ German Village which is only a couple miles south of the Statehouse. While it is free to attend, they do ask for donations:

    And if you like roses, there are 13 acres of Whetstone Park in the Clintonville neighborhood that makes up the Park of Roses. It has around 350 varieties of roses and around 11,000 roses total:
