A Winter Trip To Discover General Custer

Looking for something interesting to do on these cold winter days? How about a One Tank Trip to Michigan to learn more about one of the most controversial Generals of the 19th Century. George Armstrong Custer. He was born in Ohio but spent much of his adult life in Monroe, Michigan before going west to meet his destiny at the Little Big Horn.

There is this unique museum in downtown Monroe that is built on the same spot that General Custer and his wife, Elizabeth, once had their home. Inside you will find many unusual exhibits about his colorful, short, life including what may be his original tombstone from the Montana battlefield where he died.

Our trip today was originally done in the mid 1990s but the museum is still there and Monroe is only a short drive across the state line north of Toledo, making this an easy Classic One Tank Trip.
